About Me
I love theater, both seeing it and producing it. My I-can-die-happy-now-dream would be to stage manage a Tony-Award winning new Broadway musical. I love to read, I love puzzles, and I was that child in school who was always good at math. My wardrobe contains predominantly black and purple clothing, and I drink way more coffee than is good for me.
About Him
My fiance is a wonderful person, who handles my crazy in the most subtle and skillful way. He did a brief stint on Wall Street but quickly decided that wasn't for him, and now he does sound for theater. He loves (and understands!) all things electronic, from computers to cars and everything in between. He almost always has a flashlight in his pocket, and he lets his hair grow far too long between cuts (in my opinion)!
How We Met
Apparently, we met my freshman year of college, at the general interest meeting for a student theater organization on campus. I say apparently, because I have no recollection of the fact.
At some point, I must have heard of him, because he existed on the periphery of my world until the following year, when we reconnected a party for that same theater. Said reconnection was brought about by an extremely drunk girl, who passed out on my foot and nearly burned me with her cigarette. It was oh-so-romantic. The night ended with the two of us bringing her to the hospital (which she later yelled at us for). We continued talking because he was interested in my roommate at the time, but soon began to hang out on our own.
Our first (accidental) date was a midnight showing of Rocky Horror, where he paid for my ticket and prop bag. And the rest, as they say, was history...

Our Proposal Story
Celebratory glass of champagne
Believe it or not, the proposal came as a surprise to both of us...
In July 2011, we went to Europe for a 2 week vacation. We spent a week in London, and then met up with some of my college friends for a week in Spain, 4 days in Barcelona and 3 in Madrid. FI and I loved London and had a fabulous time, but he wasn't enjoying Spain due to some personality conflicts with my friends. Nothing major, just that he plans everything out, and at times it seemed like one of my friends was incapable of even a simple Google search.
So on our last day in Madrid (which was also the last day of our trip), we ditched my friends and went back to our hotel, which was gorgeous! (FI picked it.) We ended up having lots of serious life discussions, about career, family, life, and us. One of these "discussions" was about how it felt like our relationship had plateaued, and that we had stagnated for the past year. In the heat of this "discussion", FI blurted out "We should just get engaged!". To which I responded, "Fine!". After several moments of "Did that really just happen?", he asked me again, and properly.
No ring, no down-on-one-knee, no candlelight, no sunset on the beach, but it's us and I love it.
